I have been a professional in the disability services field for nearly 15 years and have worked in higher education for 18 years. As a person with a disability, I understand the accessibility needs of students with disabilities in the classroom. Having spent time both in front of the classroom and as an online instructor, I am also familiar with the needs of faculty members and administrators. I hold a BA in Psychology, an MS in Mental Health Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Florida International University. Additionally, I am certified as an ADA consultant by the University of Missouri’s Great Plains ADA Center. Currently, I serve as the Access Consultant Manager and lead presenter and trainer for Florida International University’s Disability Resource Center, where I act as a disability consultant. I also work as an Adjunct Professor in Florida International University’s Department of Psychology, focusing on the needs of students with disabilities.
Outside of academia, I enjoy many hobbies and activities, but my favorites include spending time with my daughters and family, training in Goju Ryu Karate where I hold a 2nd Degree Black Belt, serving as the Faculty Advisor for my fraternity (Tau Kappa Epsilon - Sigma Alpha Chapter), being the voice of FIU's Commencement Ceremonies, and hitting the gym every day as early as 5 AM!
